Netatmo Smart Indoor Security Camera Review (2019)

If you have been shopping around for an indoor security camera, you have probably come across a lot of different brands. Today we will take a look at one popular indoor security camera that is currently out on the market called the Netatmo Smart Indoor Security Camera.

Before we start to discuss the features of the Netatmo Smart Indoor Security Camera we would like to give you some background information about the company. Netatmo is a French company that was founded in 2011. They launched their first product in 2012 which was their Smart Home Weather Station. Since then they have branched out to smart home automation and security products such as their indoor security camera.

Features

The Netatmo Smart Indoor Camera has some really great basic features. It is a wireless camera and works by connecting to your home’s Wi-Fi network. It is powered by four AA batteries. It also gives you the option to power it through an AC power source for continuous power. It has a video resolution of 1080P with a 130 degree extra wide viewing angle. Because the Netatmo Smart Indoor Camera has such a wide viewing angle it allows you to cover a pretty large area of the inside of your home. It also includes infrared night vision technology that allows you capture video even when there is no light. This camera is also a DIY (do-it-yourself) type of install which should only take you few minutes to set up.

The Netatmo is a battery-operated camera. Most security cameras that are out on the market today require you to power your camera through an AC power source only. The one thing we didn’t like is that Netatmo does not state whether the audio for this camera can be used as a 2-way audio feature. Most security cameras out on the market now include a 2-way audio feature, such as our Alarm.com indoor and outdoor cameras.

Advanced Features

One of the factors that makes the Netatmo Smart Indoor Camera really stand out is all of the advanced features that it offers. The Netatmo Smart Indoor Camera uses smart facial detection technology to distinguish between an intruder and a love one. The Netatmo can also disregard your pets which cuts down on the number of unwanted alerts.

The Netatmo also includes a 110-decibel siren that can be set to be triggered when your camera starts to record. You can actually choose from a variety of sounds for your siren, and all the sounds that you can choose from are sounds that are used to deter home invaders.

This camera also actually listens for the sounds of your life safety devices such as smoke detectors and CO2 detectors. If your Netatmo Smart Indoor Camera detects these sounds it will send you an instant alert.

So as you can see, the Netatmo has a number of features. We like the fact that the Netatmo Smart Indoor Camera can detect the sounds of your life safety devices. We also like the fact that it will not record on its own without a user’s permission. If there was one flaw we could find with this camera is that Netatmo does not really go into detail about the motion sensing technology for this camera. Another negative point is the fact that it cannot be tied in with a home security system. At Link Interactive, we make that possible. Video Storage, Netatmo App and Pricing

The Netatmo Smart Indoor Camera includes a Micro SD slot that allows you to store your video clips locally. When you purchase the Netatmo camera it will already include a 32 GB Micro SD card. You can also choose to automatically store your video on your Dropbox or your PC. You can stream live and recorded video from the Netatmo app which works for both Android and Apple devices.

The Netatmo app will send you instant alerts any time your camera is triggered. You can also customize the features of your camera right from the app as well. If you are looking to purchase a Netatmo Smart Indoor Camera you will pay around $190. Compare and save when you buy a Link Interactive home security camera, powered by Alarm.com. Not only do you get a better camera, but the possibilities are endless with regards to home security and home automation, all connected on one single platform.

The Netatmo Smart Indoor Camera has a decent amount of storage options. We like the fact that you can store your video locally on a Micro SD card. The Netamo app has a lot of great features as well. The pricing for the Netatmo Smart Indoor Camera is a little on the higher side. $190 is no chump change for an indoor camera.

Netatmo vs Alarm.com Video

The Netatmo Smart Indoor Camera gives you a decent amount of features, but at a pretty hefty price tag. Design wise, it looks amazing. It also gets points for being totally battery operated, although that comes with its own drawbacks (such as having to recharge or replace batteries every now and then). Another caveat to the Netatmo camera is that it cannot be integrated with other devices and systems. In other words, if you’re into the whole home automation scene such as smart door locks and lights and smart security systems, the Netatmo will not interact with any of these devices. It is solely a stand alone security camera that works on its own platform and app.

If you would like a more versatile camera, that can work with fully fledged home security and smart home automation systems, look into our Alarm.com indoor, outdoor and doorbell cameras. Not only will they be more affordable, but they will give you the most amount of flexibility in terms of how you want them to interact with your new ‘smart’ home.
