The Frontpoint control panel has cellular chip which means you don’t have to have a landline or internet connection for it to work. The Frontpoint Control panel can connect to your internet connection just in case you live in an area that doesn’t get great cell coverage. The Frontpoint control panel comes with a rechargeable 24-hour back up battery in case your power goes out. The Frontpoint Control panel has a Z-wave protocol that allows you to use other branded devices with it, making it pretty expandable.

Alder Control Panel

Alder home security offers a really modern control panel that has all the features you could want built right into the control panel. Alder Home Security control panel is called the Simple Panel. This is a full colored touchscreen control panel that allows you to control your Alder Home Security System with a simple touch of a button. The Simple Panel is a wireless panel which means it connects all your sensors wirelessly. Alder Home Security’s Simple Panel can be wall mounted and placed on a desk top surface which makes it very portable. The Simple Panel has a cellular chip so you do not have to worry about having a landline or internet connection for it to work. It is powered by an AC power source so you will want to make sure you have one nearby. The Simple Panel does include a backup battery just in case your power goes down. It has a 2-way audio feature that allows you to directly communicate with your central monitoring station.

Who wins?

Fronpoint’s and Alder Home Security’s control panels are quite different from one another. Frontpoint’s control panel comes in two parts making it harder to damage during a home invasion. Alder Home Security’s control panel has more modern features, a full colored touchscreen, and all of its functions can be controlled right from the touchscreen. Because Alder Home Security offers a more modern control panel, we are giving them the win for this category.

Frontpoint Equipment

Frontpoint has a huge selection of basic equipment that can protect your home from top to bottom. They offer door/window sensors that are wireless and battery-operated. Their door/window sensors are smaller than other door/window sensors making them easier to place. Frontpoint offers motion sensors that are wireless and battery-operated. Their motion sensors are pet immune, and can detect motion in a large area. Frontpoint offers wireless and battery-operated glass break sensors. Their glass break sensors work by recognizing the sound of breaking glass, and they will alert you when this event has happened. Frontpoint also offers wireless and battery-operated temperature sensors. These sensors will detect changes in temperature and will alert you to abnormal rises and drops in temperature. They also offer smoke sensors that are wireless and battery-operated. Their smoke sensor will detect rises in smoke and will make an audible alert when this is detected. Frontpoint’s offers CO detectors that will alert you to potentially dangerous levels of CO gas in your home via an audible alert. They offer key fobs that sport a 4-button design that allows consumers to arm and disarm their system with only a push of a button. The last piece of basic equipment that front point offers are panic buttons. Their panic buttons will allow you to instantly trigger your system, and you will instantly get a response for your central monitoring station. Their panic buttons can be carried around with you and include a band so that you can. All the equipment offered by Frontpoint is DIY (do it yourself) which means you will need to setup up all the equipment by yourself, but they do include a setup guide for fast and easy installation.

Frontpoint Home Automation

When it comes to being able to personalize your system with addon equipment, Frontpoint has you covered. They offer smart LED bulbs which are great at cutting down on your home’s energy costs due to their energy saving ability. You can turn on and off these smart lights remotely through the Frontpoint app. If you are looking for a way to control small appliances or light fixtures you can purchase a wireless light control from Frontpoint. Their light control plugs directly into an outlet, and you can control any small appliance that is connected to this smart plug remotely through the Frontpoint app. Fronpoint’s also offers automated door locks. Fronpoint’s automated door locks have a fingerprint resistant keypad design that will allow you to create custom user codes. Frontpoint’s offers garage controls that will allow you to remotely control your garage doors on the go. If for some reason you forget to close your garage door, an alert will be sent to you through Frontpoint app. Frontpoint offers smart thermostats as well. Frontpoint’s smart thermostat will automatically adjust the temperature of your home when a drop or rise of temperature happens past the temperature you have set for your home. This is another great device that you can use to cut down on your home’s energy consumption per month.

Frontpoint Video Monitoring/Cameras

Frontpoint has a great selection of video surveillance equipment that you can use with their system. Frontpoint offers the Alarm.com V622 Indoor Camera. This camera is wireless, and it is powered by an AC power source. The video resolution of this camera is 1080p HD, and it has 180-degree viewing angle which allows this camera to capture video in a wide area. The V622 indoor camera also has 2-way audio built-in with Bluetooth audio streaming capabilities. You can also use other Alarm.com cameras with your Frontpoint system such as their outdoor and doorbell cameras.

Alder Equipment

Alder Home Security has a variety of basic equipment that will work great with their Simple Panel in keeping your home protected. The first type of basic equipment they have to offer is their door/window sensors. These sensors are wireless and battery-operated. Adler Home Security offers motion sensors that are also wireless and battery-operated. Their motion sensors are meant to be used in the corner of your larger room to help protect the doors and windows in that room. Alder Home Security’s motion sensors can be installed using double-side adhesive tape or with the included wall mounts. Alder Home Security also offers key chain remotes. Adel Home Security’s keychain remotes are battery-operated and will allow you to quickly arm and disarm your system with a simple push of a button. Alder Home Security’s keychain remotes also have a built-in panic button that quickly alerts your monitoring station that an emergency is happening, and that you need immediate assistances. Alder Home Security offers wireless and battery-operated smoke and CO detectors. These detectors will look for irregular smoke or rises in CO gas, and they will make an audible alert if these are detected. The equipment offered by Alder Home Security is DIY so you will need to install all the equipment yourself. Alder Home Security does offer a step by step installation manual which makes installation fast and easy.

Alder Home Automation

Unfortunately, Alder Home Security doesn’t offer any home automation equipment that you can use with their system. You may be able to use other branded home automation equipment with their system, but they do not state this on their website so you will need to contact them to make sure.

Alder Monitoring/Cameras

Alder offers a really nice brand of video surveillance cameras. The first Arlo camera that they offer is the Arlo YI indoor camera. This camera is a wireless camera that works by connecting to your home’s WIFI network. It is powered through an AC power source so you want to make sure you have one near by the camera. It has a video resolution of 1080p HD with 111-degree field of view. It has night vision technology that allows you to see images in the dark. The Arlo Yi also has a 2-way audio feature that will allow to hear and communicate with whomever is around your camera. The Arlo YI has motion sensors that will trigger the camera to start recording along with sending you a push notification letting you know that this event has taken place. The next Arlo camera that Alder Security offer is the Arlo Pro. The Arlo Pro can be used indoors or outdoors. This camera also works by connecting to your home’s WIFI network. The Arlo Pro can be powered through an AC power source or you can use the camera without an AC power source by using its rechargeable battery. You can stream video in HD with the Arlo Pro, and it has advanced night vision that allows you to capture images up to 25 feet at night. It also includes at 2-way audio feature that will allow you to directly communicate with whomever is around the camera. The Arlo Pro also uses motion sensors that will trigger the camera to start recording and also send you an alert that this event has taken place.

Who wins?

Frontpoint and Alder Home Security have a lot in common when it comes to their basic equipment. They both offered wireless and battery-operated interior sensors. They both offer life safety devices that are also wireless and battery-operated. However, Frontpoint does have a bit more variety of basic equipment for you to choose from. We are giving Frontpoint the win for this category due to the fact that they have a bigger selection of basic equipment for you to choose from.

There is a pretty big difference between what Frontpoint has to offer in addon equipment and what Alder Home Security has to offer. Alder Home Security doesn’t offer any home automation equipment, but the cameras that they offer are superb and packed full of features. Frontpoint has a ton of home automation equipment for you to choose from which really lets you personalize your security system to do more than just protect your home. Because Alder Home Security doesn’t offer home automation equipment, we are giving Frontpoint the win for this category.

Frontpoint vs Alder App

Frontpoint and Alder Home Security offer professional, self, and video monitoring services. Alder Home Security also offers a medical monitoring service which is something Frontpoint doesn’t offer. Fronpoint’s and Alder Home Security’s self-monitoring services are done through their apps. Their apps are free to download and work for Apple and Android devices. With their apps you can stream live and recorded video from any connected video surveillance camera, receive push notifications for events, arm and disarm your system remotely, and customize certain features for your connected devices. Alder Home Security’s app however doesn’t have as many features as Frontpoint’s app. The Frontpoint app is powered by Alarm.com which means you will have ton more features to use with your system and equipment like Geo-fencing technology. Fronpoint’s and Alder Home Security’s professional monitoring services work the same, where you have a 24/7 professional monitoring service watching over your home. Frontpoint is very transparent about their monitoring costs and contracts while Alder Home Security has no easily available information on their monitoring costs or contracts.
