Frontpoint has a really nice and easy to use control panel that connects all your devices to one place. The control panel that Frontpoint has to offer has a simplistic design and even simpler functions. The Frontpoint control panel comes with the base station and one wireless keypad which is used for you to control the base station. The Frontpoint Control panel has Crash and Smash protection, which is a great feature to have built into a control panel because if the control panel is damaged by an intruder, it will still transmit a signal to your monitoring station. The Frontpoint control panel has a cellular chip which means you don’t have to have a landline or internet connection for it to work. The panel can also connect to your internet connection just in case you live in an area that doesn’t get great cell coverage. The Frontpoint control panel comes with a rechargeable 24-hour back up battery in case your power goes out, and it has a Z-Wave protocol that allows you to use other branded devices with it, making it pretty expandable.

Scout Alarm offers a high-quality control panel that connects all of your security equipment and other devices wirelessly. Their control panel is called the Scout Hub, and it works by connecting to your home’s WIFI network but also includes a cellular backup just in case your internet goes down. The Scout Hub doesn’t have any features that can be controlled directly from the control panel, instead you will use their app, separate keypad, or key fob to arm and disarm your system. You can also use a RFID tag to quickly arm and disarm your system. The Scout Hub includes an internal 105-decibel alarm that can be easily heard no matter where you are in your home. Their control panel is powered through an AC power source, and it does include a built-in backup battery just in case your power goes out. The Scout Hub is very expandable and has lots of zones. The control panel will tell you exactly which zone (sensor) has been triggered which will give you a better idea of where and what is exactly happening in your home. Frontpoint and Scout Alarm both offer simplistic control panels that are easy to set up and use. We really like how the zones work with the Scout Hub due to its ability to let you know exactly what area of your home is being triggered. We like the fact that that Frontpoint offers smash and crash protection built into their control panel. Frontpoint and Scout Alarm both require the use of a separate keypad to control your control panel, but Frontpoint includes it with their control panel while Scout Alarm makes you buy it separately. Because the Frontpoint control panel allows you to arm and disarm it using a keypad that is already included, we are giving Frontpoint the win for this category.

We like the smaller size of Fronpoint’s door/window sensors due to their size allowing them to be placed in a larger variety of styles of door/window frames. With Scout, we like the Door Panel sensor due to its built-in siren. Scout offers some fancy sensors Frontpoint doesn’t, and due to this we are giving Scout Alarm the win for this category.

Frontpoint has a huge selection of home automation equipment for you to choose from which allows you to really expand your Frontpoint system. We really like the Yale smart locks that that Scout Alarm offers due to their tamper resistant design. Because Frontpoint has a much larger selection of add-on equipment for you to choose from, we are giving them this win for this category.
